General Sites

  • Hypebot
    • This might be the most valuable resource you'll have. It's also on my blogroll as an RSS Feed, so it's up to you to decide which way you want to access it. I suggest actually going to the site so you can see everything on it.
  • Friday Morning Quarterback
    • "The Week In Review" is highly informative, concise and relevant to the music industry. This, like Hypebot, is a recommended daily staple and is also on the blogroll.
  • Billboard.biz
    • Another invaluable tracking resource.
    • Here's the record label-specific section of their website, for you to easily track the Big Four.
    • Their digital and mobile news section has the most valuable information on business decisions from labels and other music industry companies like Apple, Lala, and countless music websites like Imeem (RIP).
    • The Touring section of the news is quite relevant to Live Nation, as live music might be taking over for recording.
  • Yahoo! Finance
  • Music Industry Newswire
    • It stays true to its tagline of "news, reviews, events, and rants from the Music Business." It does not, however, cover the Big Four nor the RIAA that much.

Paid Sites that might be worth your money (or, your company's, if you can write them off as a business expense!):

  • Music Industry Today
    • An EIN News Service for Music Industry Professionals] has a lot of headlines that I wish I could click to get the full story but instead get the dreaded "sign up today!" screen:

Aw, man…
  • Wall Street Journal seemed to turn up on Google and Yahoo News with articles whose titles suggested usefulness but, again, would not give me the whole story unless I signed up.
